has announced it will soon another one of its stores in just a few weeks. Poundland's Clapham Junction train station branch will close on May 2. reported that this marks the end of its three years at the busy London station.

A closing-down sign inside the states: "We're closing May 2. Don't worry, we have another great store in the Southside Shopping Centre near Specsavers!" This comes following Pepco Group's statement last month that Poundland is "operating in an increasingly challenging UK retail landscape that is only intensifying," and warned that "from April 2025, the UK Government's additional tax changes announced in the Budget will also add further pressure to Poundland's cost base."

The news of the closure was also shared on Instagram by Battersea Beat in a post that reads: "Poundland at ShopStop Clapham Junction is closing on Friday 2nd May. This follows several Poundland stores that have been closed across the UK in the last few months.

One person reacted to the news saying, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" while another person said it was "Sad :/".

Last month, the retailer also shut its Belfast Connswater Shopping Centre store after the centre was placed into receivership.

Pepco Group, the retailer's parent company also told The Sun, that the Liverpool's Belle Vale Shopping Centre will be closing on May 6 due to the termination of the lease.

Poundland closed 13 of its stores within three months at the end of last year and Pepco Group has now said it is exploring options to sell or separate the business.

Pepco Group CEO, Stephan Borchert, said last month: "We are actively exploring separation options, including a potential sale, for the Poundland business.

"We have started to work with advisers to support us with this process."

Poundland's first store, opened in Burton Upon Trent more than three decades ago, and the business rapidly expanded building a strong presence in towns and cities with over 825 stores across the UK.
