The plot involves a suspected suicide which forensic evidence later suggests was actually a murder, and the mysterious case of a wife and two children who were silently removed from his will just months before his gory death.
The broadcaster was watching avidly in the audience at the preview screening - and she teased that the plot might just link in with a future work project she's preparing to unveil.
It's been months since viewers last saw her in her usual early morning slot alongside Eamonn Holmes - and now, invigorated by the chance of "a lot more sleep", she's planning a podcast instead. "You'll be seeing me on screen very soon and also in a different medium as well - there's a podcast in the pipeline," she teased.
She revealed that her future work plans "absolutely" tie in with I, Jack Wright, adding that "everything the crime writer [Chris Lang] does is a huge success" and that she's "gripped by his work".
"It's interesting because a lot of my professional life I reported on murders, I've been in crime, I've been in court, I've been face to face with about five or six serial killers myself - and to watch it in dramatisation is actually not that different from reality, quite frankly!" she exclaimed.
"Some of the murders that I have covered in the past have actually ended up being turned into dramas." Isabel added that after 20 years of broadcasting, although her heart will "always be in news", she's branching out a little more and viewers now can expect to see her cover topics she's never ventured into before.
Could she be involved in crime fiction in the future too? Viewers will have to keep their eyes peeled to find out. Meanwhile, the anchor blazed onto what has been described as "the most glamorous red carpet of all time" wearing a white peplum top and black tulle maxi skirt.
She showed up with her pal, interior designer and country living influencer Leah Lane, who has a million followers on Instagram. Isabel teased of I, Jack Wright, which screens on April 23 on U & Alibi: "If you liked White Lotus you'll enjoy this (all British) who dunnit!"
