The new system has been made according to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which will make studies more flexible and skill-based.

UGC New Rules: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to implement new rules for graduation (UG) and postgraduation (PG) courses starting in 2025. These changes have been made under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to make studies more flexible and easier for students. UGC has also given information about the credit system. Know in detail about the new rules of UGC (UGC New Rules) in this article.

What did UGC say in the rules? (UGC New Rules)

According to the official tweet, the most important change in the UGC New Rules is the multiple entry and exit system. Under this, if the students want, they can leave the course after one year, two years, three years or four years in the middle of studies. Based on the studies left, they can get a certificate, diploma or degree. The special thing is that whenever the students want, they can come back later and start their studies again from there. With this, now the students will get more freedom and new opportunities in studies.

Easy way to get a degree under the new education policy (UGC New Rules)

Now even if you have to leave studies at any time during studies, the hard work will not go in vain. According to the new system:

If a student studies for 1 year (40 credits), he will get a certificate

After completing 2 years (80 credits), he will be given a diploma

After studying for 3 years (120 credits), the student will get a simple degree

If the student completes 4 years (160 credits), he will be given an honors degree or an honors degree with research.

Studying will be easier in the new system, know the major changes in the credit system

UGC has made major changes in the credit system to make studies easier. Now students will be given some credits for studying every subject. All these credits will be saved in a digital platform Academic Bank of Credits (ABC). Students can deposit, transfer or use their credits for studies in any college or university in India. Students will now also get the facility that they can do two different UG or PG courses simultaneously, whether they are from different colleges or in different formats (eg offline, online or distance learning).

Skill based education also included (UGC New Rules)

Another big change is that now skill based education will also be included along with studies. Students will have to take 50% credits from their main course, the remaining credits they can earn from skill development courses, internships or multidisciplinary subjects. Apart from this, now there will be a chance for admission twice a year, i.e. in July/August and January/February, due to which students will have more opportunities to start studies.
