Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy ’s latest collaboration ‘Thudarum’ continues to dominate the box office, but the buzz grew even bigger after a promo song video leaked online.
BTS leaked!
A behind-the-scenes clip featuring Mohanlal and Shobana dancing together surfaced on social media, much to the excitement of fans. In the visuals, Mohanlal can be seen stylishly grooving in a black mundu and brown shirt, while director Tharun Moorthy joins him in matching steps.
Netizens say, “ It’s a killer item!”
Although the leaked footage was later taken down, it has already ignited a wave of fan requests urging the team to officially release the song. Comments like “Just drop it, sir. It’s a killer item!” and “If it doesn’t suit the movie’s mood, just release it on YouTube!” flooded social media platforms. Another comment read, “ഇതങ്ങ് ഇറക്കിവിട്. (Please release this!)”
‘ Vel Muruka ’ vibes
Adding to the excitement, several photos from the song’s shoot have also gone viral, capturing the timeless chemistry between Mohanlal and Shobana. The song has been choreographed by Brinda Master, with music composed by Jakes Bejoy. Veteran singer M.G. Sreekumar has lent his voice to the track, and the lyrics have been penned by Vinayak Sasikumar.
In the film, Mohanlal portrays Benz Shanmugham, a devoted follower of Lord Murugan. The leaked track is reportedly a fast-paced Murugan devotional song, specially crafted by Tharun Moorthy to fit the film’s tone. Fans believe the song carries the same nostalgic energy as Mohanlal’s iconic hits like “Vel Muruka” and “Pazhanimala Murukane.”

ETimes gave a rating of 3 stars out of 5 and our review reads, “Jakes Bejoy’s music elevates the scenes, making a real impact in the storytelling. Shaji Kumar’s cinematography is excellent and it is perfectly coordinated with the edits by Shafeeque VB and Nishadh Yusuf. Their collective work lay the ground for the mood of the film. Tharun, whose last film Saudi Vellakka won a National Awards, could have done better to have created a more subtle story; this very much has an ‘80s-’90s feel. For Mohanlal fans, his raw magnetism might be exciting, but with its loud and overwritten scenes, the acting lacks nuance all around.”
