New Delhi: Vanity Fair has been able to get the first exclusive first looks of Darren Aronofsky’s next project tilted Caught Stealing. The film stars Austin Butler in an adventure through late-’90s New York, and also stars Bad Bunny, Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio and Matt Smith.

Butler, riding high on the success of recent titles like Elvis and Dune 2 is in high demand at the moment. Aronofsky has been able to belt out an impressive ensemble around him, for his next which also looks to be a change in genre for the director, compared to his previous work The Whale, which was comparatively more sombre.

Anticipation builds around Darren Aronofsky’s next

Darren Aronofsky has come to establish himself as one of the  most original and exciting of filmmakers working today. It is thus no surprise that his next work is being so highly anticipated.

Working on high-wire dramatic stories heavy on psychological themes, his films have been both commercial and critical successes.

The decision for Aronofsky to cast Austin Butler in the lead is also interesting and important. Butler, a rising star, differs from the lead in his last film, The Whale. Brendan Fraser was the star of that film, which saw the actor return to a major role after a long period of time. The movie too was smaller in scale and ambition, specially in terms of the production.

Caught Stealing looks to be anything but that. The initial stills show a portrayal of exciting looking characters. The concept of a criminal world to be tackled by someone with the sensibilities of Aronofsky may also turn out to be a treat. It has had everyone enthralled waiting for the release, and it’s trailer, which might be dropping soon, is also sure to generate ample interest and fanfare.
