New Delhi: WAVES 2025, the first-of-its-kind four-day Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit is currently being held in Mumbai. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the theme of the summit is exploring the theme ‘Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries’.
The Summit saw a lot of luminaries from the film industry take part and share their views on different aspects to their craft, among them South superstar Allu Arjun.
In the Talent Beyond Borders session during the WAVES Summit, popular South Indian actor Allu Arjun talked about how more and more around the country know of him today after the success of his Pushpa franchises, especially of its last iteration Pushpa 2: The Rule.
He then talked about how he was still processing this outsized success and fame. “This is a long journey and I’m happy to have started on this journey,” he commented during the Summit.
Allu Arjun then talked about how movies from India are now slowly making their name around the world, adding how despite being a large industry for decades it is only now that the industry is beginning to make a significant mark on the global stage.
Arjun seemed hopeful of India’s incoming progress in the coming future. He also shared his enthusiasm about this development, observing similar trends in other fields like medicine, and said how it is now the time for the entertainment industry to do something similar.
Of his recent success, Arjun then talked about how he initially saw himself as being restricted to the role of a regional actor, but the recent success of the ‘Pushpa’ franchise has expanded his reach significantly. From being known principally for his career in Telugu films, it was Pushpa that took him to a global stage and it is this that has resulted in massive support for him around the country and makes more people recognise him. The recognition is now becoming global.
Allu Arjun also talked about his future projects, which include a collaboration with Jawan director, Atlee Kumar. Of his next project, how he was impressed with the idea that Atlee came to him with. “I really liked the idea that he told me and I like his aspirations. I felt we were like-minded on many levels. We hope to bring a very new visual spectacle to Indian cinema. It will be a very international presentation with total Indian sensibilities,” the actor said of his upcoming project.
