Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya instructed inspection of fire safety measures of those buildings whose height is more than the fixed limit.

He asked officers to do identification of buildings which ignores the set rules. The building owners could take approval from fire safety officer by presenting fire safety plan by December 31.

Penalty will be imposed on those building owners who do not submit fire plan within the stipulated time limit.

As per the directives, the fire safety plan of buildings mentioned in paragraph 2 of Fire Safety Plan and which are pre built, will have to be submitted within two months for approval from fire safety officer. The fire safety plan has to be prepared as per the set parameters of NBC.

Within a month after receiving the application, fire safety officer has to give the approval. If building owner doesn’t submit fire safety plan before the fire officer then delayed penalty of Rs 500 per day and after a year, penalty of Rs 1000 per day will be imposed.

All buildings above 15 meters, hotel and hospitals having more than 50 beds have been made mandatory to seek certificate of fire safety plan. All buildings having construction area of more than 500 M2 (excluding residential, religious and community buildings) will be also covered under fire safety norms.

The hotels with less than 50 beds and 50 bed hospital will have to furnish certification of registered fire engineer. The directives related to fire safety plan could be taken from offices of urban bodies.
