In Srirangapatna taluk, the famous Brindavan Gardens beside the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam is about to receive a significant makeover modeled after Disney theme parks. A master plan of ₹2,615.96 crore has been finalized by the Karnataka government to completely renovate the site and turn it into a top tourism attraction.

Brindavan Gardens, one of Karnataka’s most popular tourist destinations, was first constructed in 1932 in the Indo-Mughal style. It brings in over 2 million tourists a year and brings in over ₹15 crore in income. For many years, the garden has been a popular destination with its expansive lawns, boat excursions, and melodic fountains.

Under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) approach, the Department of Water Resources and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar are leading the new master plan, which intends to renovate the 198-acre park in three stages over 4.5 years. After administrative permissions in July 2024, tenders have already been requested.

Important Points of Interest in the Master Plan:

*Cauvery Statue: A colossal monument representing the river, costing 184.85 crore.

*Doll Museum: A ₹39.32 crore establishment that displays dolls from many cultures and regions.

*The Laser Fountain Show and Botanical Garden would cost ₹37 crore and ₹25 crore, respectively.

*Sky Bridge, Jungle Track, and Tree Walk: Providing sweeping vistas to enhance exploration.

*Amusement Park & Water Park: investments of ₹170.94 crore and ₹91.27 crore are intended to increase family travel.

* Heritage Museum, Wax Museum, and Penguin Zoo: Specialty attractions to enhance the visiting experience.

*Cauvery Air Walk, Viewing Tower, and Amphitheater: To improve appearance and interaction.

* Parking & Infrastructure: ₹371.32 crore has been set aside to handle the extra traffic.

The government intends to impose regional development regulations because of the park’s close vicinity to settlements including Katteri, Hulikere, and Belagola. In order to stop unplanned urban growth, this involves regulating resorts, hotels, land transactions, and environmental damage.

With private developers, the PPP model offers a 30-year operating and revenue-sharing arrangement that covers management, finance, and construction.

An estimated 15,000 people visit the park every day, and the number of visitors is predicted to rise by 7% annually. Brindavan Gardens’ history will be preserved, but it will also be raised to a world-class tourist destination via this redevelopment, which will combine heritage with

contemporary attractions.
