Arsene Wenger admits that it is "not right" that the winner of the is rewarded with a place in the as and both battle to make the final of this year's tournament.

United and Spurs have endured horrific domestic seasons and lie 15th and 16th respectively in the table. They have fared far better in Europe, though, and are .

made the decision to offer Champions League football up as a reward for victory in the Europa League back in 2014 - but has called for that to be reviewed.

When the legend was asked if he felt the policy was fair on BeIN SPORTS, Wenger replied: "No - they should qualify automatically for the Europa League again but not necessarily for the Champions League. Especially when you're in the Premier League where already five teams qualify.

"I think it's something (for Uefa) to think about and to review. On the other hand people will tell you that to keep the Europa League focused, interesting and motivated you need to give them that prize (of qualifying for the Champions League)."

The comments from Wenger, who is now Fifa's head of global football development, comes at a time where the Premier League could potentially have SIX teams competing in the Champions League next year should Manchester United or Spurs go on to win the Europa League later this month.

Do you agree with Wenger's comments?

The top four teams in the league usually qualify but the Premier League have been awarded an extra spot due to the collective performance of English teams in Europe.

While neither United or Tottenham can actually finish anywhere near the European spots - or in the top half of the table with just three games remaining - they both hold a healthy aggregate lead in their respective semi-finals.

Ruben Amorim's men have a 3-0 advantage over Bilbao at Old Trafford after recording a famous victory in Spain, while Tottenham are 3-1 up against Bodo/Glimt ahead of their home leg which will also take place on Thursday night.
