Diganth Manchale is coming aboard Ramesh Aravind ’s next. For the first time ever, the two actors will share screen space in
Daiji, a film directed by Akash Srivatsa ,
Bangalore Times has exclusively learnt. The duo are set to play brothers, and in a nostalgic nod to Ramesh’s cult classic,
America America, their character names echo those from the Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar-directed film, Akash Srivatsa tells us. “Ramesh sir plays Surya, Diganth essays Gagan, and Radhika Narayan plays Bhumi,” shares Akash, and reveals that the role was written with Diganth in mind. “Since our film is a psychological thriller , Diganth’s character brings in a softness and comic relief. He’s the one who carries
happala (papad) and
uppinkayi (pickle) when he visits his brother in the UK,” he says.
