Milena Brandão, the 11-year-old actress and child model, has died after suffering 21 cardiac arrests. The Brazilian star was admitted to hospital a few days ago after suffering severe headaches. On Friday May 2 her mother Thays Brandão revealed doctors had diagnosed the youngster with a brain tumour. She later shared a heartfelt emotional message with her daughter's 196,000 Instagram followers announcing her tragic death at the Grajaú General Hospital, in São Paulo, Brazil, .

"The memories we spent together will remain in my memory and I'll never forget your joy that was contagious to everyone around you," she wrote. "My girl, I'm already missing you not being here and I know I'll miss you even more in the days to come.You were the light in our lives and I know that from up there you'll continue to watch over us and light up our lives. And I'll love you forever, and you'll always be in my heart."

Milena was known for her roles in the soap opera The Childhood of Romeo and Juliet and the Netflix show Sintonia.

Her parents later shared a collection of videos and pictures of the young star.

They captioned them: "Our eternal little angel went to shine in the sky."

Her followers were devastated by the news of her death and took to the comments to share their grief.

"Rest in peace beautiful. We will miss you a lot seeing you always shining. Now you will shine in the sky. It was great to know you," one penned.

"My God, what a pain. How sad. Me as a mother - my heart bleeds," another added.

"Very hard to forget Millena's beautiful smile, but she will always be in our thoughts," a third fan commented

"Beautiful little princess, may you be in the lap of your father in heaven and keep shining wherever you are..." a fourth wrote.
