New Delhi: Kiara Advani, the talented actress who is expecting her first child with husband and fellow actor Sidharth Malhotra, made a striking entrance at the 2025 Met Gala, showcasing a custom couture piece named 'Bravehearts' designed by Gaurav Gupta.
Expressing her excitement about attending the event as both an artist and an expectant mother, Kiara shared, "This moment is incredibly special for me."
She elaborated, "When my stylist, Anaita Shroff Adajania, reached out to Gaurav for my outfit, he crafted 'Bravehearts' to reflect the transformative journey I am embarking on, beautifully aligning with this year's theme, 'Tailored for You.'"
On her Instagram, Kiara referred to the event as her 'Mama's first Monday in May,' highlighting the significance of the occasion, which is renowned as the pinnacle of fashion, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
This year's Met Gala theme, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' inspired Gupta's design, which symbolizes various forms of transformation—emotional, physical, and generational.
Gupta stated, "In designing this piece for Kiara, we aimed to celebrate her journey into motherhood while honoring the bold elegance inherent in Black style. The design merges deep symbolism with the refined aesthetics of Black dandyism."
He described 'Bravehearts' as a tribute to resilience, legacy, and new beginnings, embodying the spirit of the Black Dandy—individuals who defied conventions and reshaped culture with elegance and strength.
At the gala, Kiara radiated beauty as she posed for photographers, gently cradling her baby bump while donning a striking monochrome outfit adorned with a gold sculpted breastplate featuring two hearts, symbolizing the bond between mother and child.
The ensemble also paid tribute to the late André Leon Talley, a legendary fashion editor and Black icon, through a dramatic double-panel cape, reminiscent of his iconic silhouettes and impact on the fashion industry.
Gupta remarked, "The dramatic white cape echoes André Leon Talley's 2010 Met Gala look, serving as both armor and an offering."
Kiara added, "Inspired by André Leon Talley's legacy, we contemplated the importance of showing up with intention, individuality, and strength. This serves as a silent tribute, reminding us that our actions pave the way for future generations."
Sidharth, who joined Kiara in New York, shared a photo of her from the gala on his Instagram Stories, captioning it, "Both Bravehearts," in reference to his wife and their unborn child.
