Mumbai: Singer Rahul Vaidya stirred up a significant reaction after labeling former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli a 'Joker'. Following this, the 'Bigg Boss 14' contestant criticized Kohli's fans for their abusive comments directed at him and his family.
Vaidya expressed his frustration on Instagram, stating, "Virat Kohli's fans are even bigger jokers than Virat!"
In another Instagram story, he revealed that the abuse extended to his wife and sister, stating, "While it's fine for you to abuse me, targeting my wife and sister, who are innocent in this matter, is unacceptable! This proves my point that you Virat Kohli fans are indeed jokers!"
To further mock the trolls, Vaidya shared a video of himself singing B Praak's song "Joker", captioning it, "My favorite song since yesterday."
The controversy began when Kohli's Instagram account liked a post featuring influencer and actress Avneet Kaur.
As the situation escalated on social media, Kohli issued a statement clarifying that the interaction was a mistake caused by Instagram's algorithm.
"While clearing my feed, it seems the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was no intent behind it. I urge everyone to avoid making unnecessary assumptions," Kohli explained.
In response to Kohli's clarification, Vaidya humorously remarked, "From now on, it might be possible for the algorithm to like many photos that I haven't. So, ladies, please don't think it's my doing; it's Instagram's fault!"
Vaidya also claimed that Kohli had blocked him, jokingly suggesting that it was Instagram's algorithm that did it on Kohli's behalf.
"Virat didn’t block me; it must have been Instagram’s algorithm that did it for him," Vaidya quipped.
