Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Jaydev Unadkat dismissed the idea that bowling around the wicket is a problem for KL Rahul. This came after he had a big hand in knocking the seasoned wicketkeeper batter out during their intense match on Monday in the league. The Capitals were struggling at 29/4 after seven overs, desperately needing someone to step up. With Rahul at the crease, fans were hopeful for a comeback, but Unadkat shut that down quickly.
On the first ball of the eighth over, the left-arm bowler came around and bowled a full delivery aimed at the off-stump. Rahul, stuck in his crease, tried to drive the ball and ended up edging it. The ball flew to Ishan Kishan, who made the catch and sent Rahul packing for 10 runs off 14 balls.
Unadkat shared his thoughts on the strategy he had in mind for Rahul, saying he didn’t see it as a weakness for the experienced batter. As a bowler, you need a few tricks up your sleeve, and changing angles is one of them. I’ve bowled to KL before and I feel I have a better shot at him when I bowl around the wicket, Unadkat explained to the broadcasters.
The 33-year-old talked about their overall game plan, saying, We had a strong start and got some crucial wickets. Taking wickets always helps limit runs. Our basic strategy was to bowl consistently and mix up the pace. Getting timely wickets was key. The pitch improved as the game went on; it started a bit slow but got better. We should be able to chase this down.
Thanks to Pat Cummins, who took three wickets, Sunrisers Hyderabad kept the visitors to a low score of 133/7.
