Rapper Playboi Carti was noticeably absent from the 2025 Met Gala, and now fans might know why. According to a recent post on his private Instagram (Finsta), Carti claimed he was banned from fashion’s most prestigious night, which took place on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Carti’s Reaction: “We Good”

On May 6, Carti shared images of his would-be Met Gala look alongside Brazilian model Giovanna “Gio” Ramos, expressing disappointment over the alleged ban. “MET GALA BANNED ME FELT LIKE WE GOT KICKED OUT OF PROM BUT WE GOOD,” he wrote, adding, “@ft.gioo WITH ME IM A HAPPY MAN F**K EM @chromeheartsofficial.”

Stylish Despite the Snub

Even though he didn’t make it to the carpet, Carti still debuted his outfit on social media. He wore a black-and-white Chrome Hearts ensemble: a crisp white button-down shirt, black leather jacket and pants, black skully, and Converse sneakers. His jewelry added extra shine, with ice covering his neck, wrist, and fingers. Gio coordinated in an all-black look, featuring a blazer-style dress and a slick ponytail.

Homage to Ye and Kim?

One of the shared photos shows Carti and Gio holding hands while running down a hallway—reminiscent of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s iconic photo shoot at The Plaza Hotel in 2018.
