As part of the ongoing expansion of Panvel railway station, significant structural changes are underway, including the relocation of the local train ticket counter. The old two-storey ticket counter building is set to be demolished to facilitate the station's redevelopment, including the extension of the Harbour line up to Karjat and the development of a dedicated freight corridor.

To ensure continued convenience for commuters, a new building has been constructed at the entrance of the station by the Central Railway administration. "The new ticket counter for Harbour line passengers began operating on the ground floor starting Wednesday, offering a more spacious facility. The first floor of the building is also expected to open soon," said an official.

Additionally escalators will also be provided for easier access to the Harbour and long-distance train platforms. "These escalators will become operational upon the completion of the connecting overbridge," railway officials confirmed.

A separate ticket counter for long-distance train passengers is also in the pipeline. Additionally, the facility includes mobile charging points for commuters' convenience.

The railway police office, which is currently operating out of a temporary container cabin, will be moved to the second floor of the new building.

The relocation marks another step forward in the long-term transformation of Panvel into a major railway hub in the region.
