MS Dhoni once again showed why he is considered the ultimate wicket-keeper ever in the KKR vs CSK match at Eden Gardens when he showcased his character and made some significant contributions behind the stumps to shift the momentum in his team's favour. The 43 year old keeps proving that he is aging like a fine wine and achieved another incredible milestone during this innings further establishing himself as one of the best wicket-keepers to play the game.
Dhoni has become the first wicketkeeper to reach 200 dismissals in IPL history. After coming into the match against KKR with 198 dismissals to his name, he reached the milestone in the 8th over, when Sunil Narine stepped out against Noor Ahmad and was stumped. Just two balls later, Angkrish Raghuvanshi edged one behind, finalizing the 200 wicketkeeping dismissals by the CSK icon.
Dhoni has recorded, 153 catches and 47 stumpings as part of his IPL career, for an overall 200 dismissals. He also holds the record in almost every major statistical category for a keeper in this league. Dinesh Karthik is now the next best with a combined 174 (137 catches and 37 stumpings) and retired last season. Active player Rishabh Pant has amassed 100 dismissals so far, but has a long way to go to match Dhoni. In IPL history, only four players have eclipsed the 100 dismissal mark, and now Dhoni is the first player so far to double that count.
