Codex Gigas's scary story and connection to devil

The story of Codex Gigas begins from the 13th century. A monk in Bowhemia's Podlazice Monastery, whose name is said to be Harman, was punished for his crimes, he was to be elected alive in the wall. He promised to write a book to save the monastery, which would enrich the empire. But by night, he felt that he could not do this work alone. Legend has it that he called Satan and sought help. Satan wrote a 310 -page book in one night, including the Bible, magical mantra, and history of Bohemia. In return, the monk gave his soul to Satan. The book has a big picture of Satan, which makes it scary. However, historians say that it must have taken 15-20 years to write.

Codex Gigas's journey is equally mysterious. After being written in the 13th century, it was taken from Podlazice Monastery to Sedlek AB. In 1594, Roman Emperor Rudolf II took it, because he believed in witchcraft. During the 30 -year war in 1648, Swedish soldiers looted it and brought it to Stockholm and placed it in the collection of Queen Christina. In 1878 it was shifted to the National Library of Sweden, where it is still today. The book has been placed in a climate-controlled case to protect them from damage.
