Obnews Auto Desk: Thousands of people lose their lives untimely every year due to road accidents in the country. Most of these deaths are those who can save their lives if they get treatment on time. In view of this serious situation, the Central Government has now launched the 'Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme 2025', which aims to provide immediate and free treatment to the injured in road accidents.
According to the gazette notification issued by the government, any person injured in a road accident will get cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh. This treatment will be valid from the day to 7 days of the accident. If more than one person is injured in an accident, each will get this feature different.
Another special feature of this scheme is that even if an injured is taken to another nearby hospital instead of a designed hospital, he will be provided with cashless treatment until the condition is stable. This will ensure that treatment can begin without losing time after the accident.
This scheme will apply the National Health Authority (NHA). The NHA will work closely with the health agencies, hospitals and police of the state governments. For this, the State Road Safety Council will be formed in the states, which will work to connect hospitals with this scheme, enter the information of the victims through the portal and to ensure payment of treatment.
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had admitted in Parliament that despite taking several steps for road safety, deaths are not decreasing in the country. In such a situation, this new scheme can prove to be effective in saving the lives of people.
The government's notification clearly states: “Any person who has been injured due to a motor vehicle in a road accident will get the benefit of this scheme.”
