Just a day after Eden Gardens faced a bomb scare, Jaipur’s iconic Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium has come under similar threat. On Thursday morning, panic rippled through the city as an email claiming a bomb would go off inside the stadium landed in the inbox of the Rajasthan State Sports Council. The message arrived at precisely 9:13 a.m. Council President Neeraj K. Pawan confirmed,

"The message claimed the stadium would be bombed following the success of 'Operation Sindoor'."

Council officials, shaken but swift, alerted the police control room without wasting a second. Within minutes, a full-scale security operation kicked off. Armed personnel, Quick Reaction Teams (QRT), and bomb disposal squads swept into action. The stadium, usually buzzing with sports activity, stood eerily empty—cleared and sealed for a meticulous search.

Senior officers, including Additional Police Commissioner Kunwar Rashtradeep and DCP South Digant Anand, reached the venue to take charge. So far, no explosives or suspicious materials have surfaced. But the fear lingers.

Series of threats spark fear in Pink City

The threat to SMS Stadium is part of a disturbing pattern. The city of Jaipur has witnessed a string of similar warnings over the past months. On April 3, the Jaipur District Collectorate received a bomb threat, triggering a massive search of nearly 200 rooms. Nothing dangerous was found, but the disruption was immense.

Back in February, SMS Medical College got a threatening mail too—though the message remained unopened for two days. Even then, it turned out to be a false alarm. The pattern, however, is alarming. However, in the wake of the cross-border tensions, the bomb threats in Jaipur has been alarming enough. The latest stadium scare arrives just after a similar threat targeted Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 7, coinciding with the high-profile CSK vs KKR clash.
