Mumbai: A drone sighted near the Mumbai International Airport early Tuesday morning triggered a major security alert. The Mumbai Police Main Control Room received information about the drone flying over the Hazrat Tayyab Jalal (Baingan Shah Dargah) mosque in Sakinaka around 5:15 am.

According to the caller, the drone was seen hovering over the religious structure before disappearing into a nearby slum area. Given the proximity to a high-security zone like the airport, authorities took the report seriously.

Mumbai Police have launched a combing operation in the area to trace the operator and determine the motive behind the drone activity. Airport security has also been alerted as a precautionary measure. The incident has raised fresh concerns over unauthorized drone usage in sensitive zones. Investigations are ongoing.
