Following the recent suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise has officially confirmed that fans who bought tickets for the cancelled match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, May 11, at Arun Jaitley Stadium will receive full refunds. This announcement brings much-needed clarity to thousands of fans who were eagerly anticipating the exciting clash but were left disappointed by the sudden suspension of the tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a one-week suspension of the IPL 2025 season amid rising regional tensions. As a result, several important matches, including the May 11 clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT), were either cancelled or postponed.
In its official statement released via social media platform X (formerly Twitter), IPL wrote:
Out of the 70 league-stage matches, 58 have been completed, with 16 matches, including the playoffs, still remaining. Gujarat Titans are currently at the top of the points table with 8 wins from 11 games, while Chennai Super Kings are at the bottom with just 3 wins from 12 matches.
Following the IPL’s suspension, Delhi Capitals quickly addressed fan concerns regarding ticket refunds. The franchise posted on its official X handle:
This assurance comes as a relief to the thousands of fans who had purchased tickets to watch the highly anticipated match at Delhi’s iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium. The franchise has promised to share more details soon on the refund process, likely through official channels, including email and the ticketing platforms used for sales.
Delhi Capitals are not alone in offering transparency and assurance to fans. Earlier in the day, franchises such as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) also confirmed ticket refunds for their upcoming home matches that now stand postponed or cancelled due to the IPL break.
The situation mirrors Delhi Capitals’ previous match on May 8 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala, which was halted midway due to a floodlight failure and security alerts. At the time of the suspension, DC was in strong form, and fans were eagerly anticipating how the team would perform in the remainder of the season.
As per the BCCI’s announcement, a detailed assessment is underway, and new dates and venues for the remaining matches are expected to be announced soon. Until then, teams, fans, and stakeholders are advised to stay tuned to official updates from the IPL and their respective franchises.
