Will Kirk has been a staple on the show since it began back in 2017.

Known as antique furniture restorer, viewers have seen Will work on various items.

From restoring family heirlooms, sentimental items and fixing historical pieces, Will has become a fan-favourite on the BBC show.

As the expert is set to celebrate his birthday later this month, we're delving into the BBC star's life away from the cameras.

Will spoke about the death of his father on . He shared how the tragedy resulted in him starting up his own business.

He said: "I started my own business. My father had passed away, and I inherited a bit of money, but not too much that I could go wild, but enough for me to get a workshop and print out some flyers."

Although he hasn't spoken much about his late father, Will confessed there was a story with one young boy on the BBC show which got him overcome with emotion.

The young boy had brought in a table that he worked on with his father, who had died, with his grandma now taking care of him. Speaking about the restoration on Lorraine, Will revealed he had to step away from filming.

He said: "It's the first time I actually had to walk away. I had to get outside the barn for about 20 minutes.

All of the crew were crying, apart from the boy who was just so strong. And it goes to show that if you relate to something, it means a lot to people."

Will tends to keep his personal life out of the spotlight, although he has shared snippets on social media in the past, celebrating 15 years together this year.

In 2020, he got engaged to educational psychologist wife Polly Snowdon and tied the knot a year later at the Kings Head Hotel in Cirencester.

However, they were originally forced to postpone their wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sharing a few snaps of their day online, Will thanked all those who attended before captioning it: "The best day of my life."

Since then, they've welcomed two children together, their daughter in 2022 and, most recently, a son. Although they've kept their names out of the public eye.

Although the BBC star is best-known for his role on The Repair Shop, he's been on another TV show in the past.

Back in 2013, Will showcased his restoration skills when he was on Channel 4's The French Collection. During his time on the programme, Will helped people upcycle their furniture.

Two years before making his debut on The Repair Shop, Will was on the BBC show What To Buy and Why. The 2015 show saw Will share restoration tips to viewers on their items.
