has reportedly informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his decision to retire from Test cricket ahead of the five-match series against England, starting on June 20. The 36-year-old called time on his T20I career last year after helping India win the T20 World Cup in Barbados.

The BCCI officials are trying their best to convince Kohli to reconsider his decision to retire. However, recent reports have suggested that the former India captain is adamant on his call to step away from the longest format of the game.

Meanwhile, the official page of England's premier domestic first-class competition, the County Championship, has taken a jibe at Virat Kohli amid reports of his retirement from Test cricket. They shared a video where England seamers were picking up wickets in the domestic competition by using the conditions to their advantage. Kohli's recent form in Test cricket has been abysmal. In the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which concluded in January, the Delhi batter managed only 190 runs from nine innings at an average of 23.75.

"We don’t blame you Virat," County Championship captioned their video.

Virat Kohli's Test record in England

Kohli does not have a great batting record in England. He has played 17 Tests in the European nation and scored 1,096 runs at an average of 33.21. He has five half-centuries and two tons to his name, including a highest score of 149 in Birmingham in 2018.

Indian fans will be hoping to see Kohli playing in the Tests against England as his experience will be crucial, especially after Rohit Sharma recently announced his retirement from the format.
