'Shang-Chi' star Simu Liu announces engagement to longtime girlfriend Allison Hsu; pops the question with HUGE diamond ring
Simu Liu is off the market! The actor announced his engagement to his girlfriend of two years, Allison Hsu .
The ' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' star shared the joyful news on Instagram on Sunday, delighting fans with his romantic proposal in Paris. The hunk shared a bunch of photos from the big day that saw Hsu showing off her huge sparkling diamond ring .
"From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you forever and always," Liu captioned the post.
Known for his role in Marvel’s 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings', Liu couldn’t resist a playful nod to the film, joking via Instagram Story, “Nine rings left to go!”
Hsu, a marketing professional, shared a joint Instagram post with the simple yet heartfelt caption “Us forever,” accompanied by three ring emojis and three white hearts.
The couple’s announcement drew congratulatory messages from fellow celebrities, including MCU co-star Florence Pugh , who wrote, “Ahhh! How amazing! Sending love to you both.” Singer and Chrissy & Dave Dine Out co-host John Legend chimed in with “Congratulations!” while Snow White actress Rachel Zegler celebrated with a cheerful “Yayyy!”
Liu and Hsu were first linked in November 2022 after appearing together at the Violent Night premiere in Los Angeles. In a 2023 interview with People, Liu reflected on their relationship, praising Hsu for her impact on his life, “She’s absolutely changed my life… I’m very, very grateful to have her.”
The engagement follows a busy year for Liu, who recently appeared as a guest Dragon on Canada’s Dragons’ Den and is currently filming the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, set for release in 2026.
“I feel challenged and loved and cared for, and I feel championed,” Liu said to People about his fiancee. “The best, healthiest relationships are ones where you have each other’s back, and I definitely feel like that’s the case.”
