Preity Zinta is always known to remain true to her opinions and often is seen expressing herself on social media, without the fear of being judged. The actress known for being one of the top heroines of the 90s alongside Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Aishwarya Rai and others has often gained respect from her fans for the way she’s carried herself in the industry. For instance, she once stood up against the underworld and thus got a bravery award.
When Preity was working on ‘ Chori Chori Chupke Chupke ’, producer Bharat Shah was arrested for allegedly helping gangster Chhota Shakeel invest in this film. While many actors distanced themselves from the case, Preity was one of the key witnesses in court who admitted that she got calls from the gang and they demanded extortion of ₹50 lakh. She was honoured with Godfrey Philips National Bravery Award for the same.
Apart from this, Preity had once refused to take wealth of Rs 600 crore from Shandar Amrohi. As per this report in Hindustan Times, Shandar Amrohi who was the son of Kamal Amrohi was fond of Preity and thought of her as his daughter. He had announced that he would leave his Rs 600 crore wealth for Preity after he dies but the actress refused. He had told the publication, “I am very senior to her. I had met her first in Mariott hotel where she was with her then boyfriend Ness Wadia. I told her she seems like a daughter to me, and even sent her gifts. When I got into a tiff with my siblings, someone informed her that I was in trouble. She came to my house and gave me moral support. Mujhe uske naraaz hone se koi farak nahi padta (I’m not bothered about she getting upset)," he said.
After Amrohi's death, Preity took his children to court over a ₹2 crore loan she gave him to cover his medical expenses.
