Dermot Gallagher has dismissed claims that Andy Robertson should have been sent off in Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

After falling behind to quickfire goals from Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz, staged a fightback in the second half, through goals from Leandro Trossard and , to earn a share of the points on Merseyside.

But Sunday's game wasn't without its controversy as a section of supporters seemed to think Robertson should have been shown a red card by referee Anthony Taylor for a foul on in the second half.

The Scotland international appeared to grab the throat of Arsenal's No.7 and wrestle him to the turf as the pair battled for an aerial duel midway through the second half.

However, former Premier League and FIFA referee Gallagher has rubbished the suggestion that Liverpool should have been reduced to ten men for Robertson's challenge.

Asked to assess the challenge on Sky Sports, Gallagher said: "Foul. Full stop. I just can't see how that can possibly be a red card."

Sunday's draw at Anfield leaves Arsenal needing just one more point to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Since returning to the competition last season, the Gunners have reached the quarter-final and semi-final stages before suffering defeats to Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively.

Arsenal are next on Sunday when they host Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.
