In a letter to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) called for the urgent repeal of the AP Agricultural Land (Conversion for Non-Agricultural Purpose) Act 2006, popularly known as the NALA Act. In March 2025, the State administration said that the Act will shortly be repealed.

Potluri Bhaskara Rao, president of the AP Chambers, said in the letter, “We appreciate the State government’s announcement that the AP Agricultural Land (Conversion for Non-Agricultural Purpose) Act 2006 would soon be repealed.

The Chief Minister’s declaration on March 27, 2025, that this Act will be repealed has caused enterprises to anxiously await its discontinuation.

He noted that individuals and commercial organizations had long demanded that the Act be repealed. This Act caused needless delays in the transfer of land from agriculture to other uses by creating redundancies in the regulatory procedure. This has been a significant obstacle to the state’s Ease of Doing Business (EoDB). The EoDB will become much more straightforward if this Act is repealed.

Entrepreneurs are eager to establish companies in the state, and economic activity has increased as a result of the State government’s good industrial and other policies.

Additionally, the real estate industry has gained traction. The NALA Act’s repeal would hasten the start of several investments and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s economy.

He said that the establishment of many projects around the state will increase revenue for the state government. He said that this Act would be very helpful to entrepreneurs who want to start new businesses and asked the State government to repeal it right away.
