Mumbai The film “Little Thomas,” which was produced by Anurag Kashyap and starred Rasika Dugal and Gulshan Devaiah, has received nominations for best actor, actress, and director at the 25th New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF).
Rasika and Gulshan, the film’s main actors, have received nods in the acting categories, while Kaushal Oza, the director, has also received a nomination for his feature debut.
‘Little Thomas’ is a comedy-drama that depicts a seven-year-old boy’s attempts to reunite his parents and have a younger sibling. Rasika Duggal, who portrays Jessie Miranda in the film, expressed her “delighted” to be nominated again.
She stated: “I am appreciative that the work is being recognized and valued, and I am eager to see how the public reacts when the movie is shown at the festival. picture festivals have discriminating audiences, and it’s always great to hear what they think of the picture.
Gulshan expressed her excitement and happiness, saying, “I am pleased to have been nominated by the NYIFF jury for Best Actor for Little Thomas. I’m excited about the festival and, yeah, I’m trying to win Best Actor.
Following his short film The Miniaturist of Junagadh’s global debut at NYIFF, Kaushal Oza, who had previously worked with Kashyap on That Girl in Yellow Boots and Shaitan, said he was thrilled to be back to the festival.
“This time, I’m thrilled that ‘Little Thomas’ has been nominated for Best Debut Film at the same festival,” he said. Additionally, the nominations for both actors are the icing on the cake.
The official roster for this year’s NYIFF includes both Little Thomas and Kashyap’s directorial Kennedy, giving producers Ranjan Singh and Anurag even more cause to rejoice.
At the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) last year, “Little Thomas,” which was produced by Luminoso Pictures, Civic Studios, Flip Films, and Good Bad Films, had its international debut. It was then shown at the Toronto Indian Film Festival and Chandigarh Cine-Vesture.
The movie, which is set in Goa in the 1990s, centers on Thomas, his parents’ only child, and his intense desire for a younger brother. “He learns one day that his parents must kiss in order for him to have a baby sibling. Little Thomas decides to force his quarreling parents to do the disgusting deed since they won’t kiss anymore, according to the movie’s description.
