Stacey Solomon found herself at the centre of controversy after disclosing her "devastation" that her programme Sort Your Life Out did not triumph at the Bafta Awards, despite multiple nominations.

However, co-star Dilly Carter sprang to her defence with a supportive shut down, stating: "Good for you."

The ITV Loose Women star was overwhelmed with emotion when her BBC home makeover show failed to secure wins in the Entertainment Performance and Factual Entertainment categories.

In a heartfelt message to followers post-ceremony, Stacey couldn't hide her disappointment at leaving without accolades, having lost to Joe Lycett's Late Night Lycett on Channel 4 and the BBC Two show Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour.

Opening up candidly, Stacey told her audience: "We didn't win a Bafta and I know I'm supposed to take it gracefully like a champ but I'll be honest I'm devastated," while attempting to show she was coping with humour.

Amidst backlash over her honest reaction to the awards, Dilly Carter seized the moment during an ITV Lorraine fashion feature to vouch for her colleague. Host Christine Lampard, stepping in for recuperating show host Lorraine Kelly, prompted Dilly by saying: "What do you think? She was just sort of being real wasn't she?" reports .

Dilly loyally backed Stacey's candid video, remarking: "She is our fearless leader for a reason that's what we have to remember and I agree with her in certain respects because it's not about us it's about the production."

With unwavering support, Dilly said in defence of Stacey taking a stand: "So much goes into that show and that's why we are a bit like 'ohh', you know were just a little bit heartbroken for everyone because everyone works so hard."

Further highlighting her approval, she added: "I think yeah, good for you, absolutely say it how it was. I would have been more like 'oh no don't say anything' but you know she's like that."

Stepping up her support, Dilly emphasised: "I think she's absolutely right, I support her as always and like I say, she's a fearless leader for a reason."

When Christine weighed in: "It's not to take away from Rob and Rylan obviously because they're still brilliant but you just love your team."

Dilly acknowledged: "Of course, everyone in an award show wants their team to do well. Everyone wants to win."

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1, from 9am.
