The results of three major school examinations — SSC (Class 10) under the Maharashtra State Board, and Class 10 and 12 under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) — were declared on Tuesday, with girls once again outperforming boys across both the boards. The announcements reflect a strong academic performance by students nationwide, even as slight dips in pass percentages were observed in some regions.

In Maharashtra, the State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education recorded a statewide pass percentage of 94.10% for the SSC (Class 10) examinations, a slight drop from last year’s 95.81%. A total of 16,11,610 students appeared for the exams held from February 21 to March 17, including over 8.6 lakh boys and 7.4 lakh girls. Girls outshone boys with a pass percentage of 96.14%, while boys registered 92.31% — a gap of 3.83 percentage points. The Konkan division topped the state with a remarkable 98.82% success rate, followed by Kolhapur (96.87%) and Mumbai (95.84%). Notably, 211 students across the state secured a perfect 100% score, with Latur alone contributing 113 of them.

The CBSE also released its results for Class 10 and 12 examinations. In Class 10, over 1.99 lakh students scored above 90%, and more than 45,000 achieved above 95%. For Class 12, 88.39% of students cleared the board exams — a marginal rise from 87.98% last year. Girls led once again, with a pass rate of 91.64% compared to boys’ 85.70%, a gap of nearly six percentage points.

Impressively, transgender candidates achieved a 100% pass rate, up from 50% in 2023. Over 1.11 lakh Class 12 students scored above 90%, while 24,867 crossed the 95% mark. However, more than 1.29 lakh students have been placed in the compartment category.

Regionally, Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest CBSE Class 12 pass percentage at 99.60%, while Prayagraj was at the bottom with around 80%. The CBSE exams were conducted between February 15 and April 4 across 7,842 centres in India and 26 abroad, under strict protocols to ensure fairness.
