On Tuesday night, BM Gupta Hospital, a nursing home in the Uttam Nagar neighborhood of Delhi, had a fire that spread to the second and third floors of its dentistry wing. With the deployment of eleven fire tenders, the Delhi Fire Services reports that the fire, which began at about 8:00 PM IST, was contained after over one and a half hours.
Six nurses were lodged in the second-story nurses’ hostel when the fire started, and it later spread to a section of the third floor that held medical records. The structure consists of the impacted upper stories, a first floor with offices and an OPD, and a bottom floor with a pharmacy.
According to ADO Janakpuri R.K. Yadav, “Our cars arrived here from various stations once we received the information. They have managed to contain the fire. There are no casualties reported.
The 20 employees and 15 to 20 patients who were there at the time were successfully evacuated. There have been no recorded deaths or injuries. At 9:25 PM IST, the fire was deemed to have been contained. More information is anticipated as authorities look into what caused the fire.
