District Collector Sumit Kumar and Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jagan Mohan instructed irrigation personnel to immediately begin desilting operations in nearby tanks in an effort to raise groundwater levels and satisfy irrigation demands before to the monsoon.
The Collector and MLA examined a number of tanks in Gudipala mandal on Tuesday afternoon, including Bangarappa Cheruvu, Reddamma Cheruvu, Ramireddy Cheruvu, and Narayanareddy Cheruvu. They spoke with politicians, locals, and Ayacut growers while they were there.
Officials were informed by farmers that silt buildup and encroachment had drastically decreased these tanks’ ability to contain water.
The Collector addressed their complaints by ordering a survey to find and fix tank encroachments. In order to start thorough desilting operations, he also gave authorities instructions to draft estimates right away and adopt the required resolutions.
He instructed the Irrigation Department to use the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) to provide Rs. 40 lakh per tank to support these initiatives. Strengthening the Bangarappa Cheruvu bund required special attention.
Concerns over the silt accumulation in Bangarappa Cheruvu brought on by the expressway’s development were also voiced by residents and MLA Jagan Mohan. The Collector moved quickly, giving the National Highways Project Director instructions to make sure the dumped dirt was removed.
In order to guarantee smooth water flow during the rainy season, he also emphasized the need of inspecting and preparing the supply pipes between tanks.
