Brits have been warned that they could be left with black screens and flickering over the next few days. Around 16 millions homes across the nation have and some of those TVs may be impacted by engineering works this week - with more than 110 areas being noted as potentially experiencing distruptions.

The planned works are necessary to allow transmitters to continue "reliably broadcasting" programmes to households. TV owners are being told to expect possible "pixelation or flickering", with some even being warned that their screen "may go black" during the planned , according to Freeview's website.

Nearly every UK region is set to have some sort of distruption this week including Anglia, Border, Central, Channel, Granda, London, Meridian, Northern Ireland, STV Central, STV North, Tyne Tees, Wales, West County, and Yorkshire.

Freeview has urged people not to attempt to re-scan their TV by adjusting any settings. The website states: "If you are affected by engineering work, please don't try and retune your TV - reception will be restored as soon as the engineering work is completed."
