Eight South African players who are headed to the WTC must be released by May 26 at the latest, according to a directive issued by the BCCI on Thursday, which would prevent them from playing in the playoffs.

After the truce, it was agreed to start the IPL again on May 17 and move the final from May 25 to June 3. Jos Buttler, a mainstay of the England T20 team, will go for national duty after the Gujarat Titans’ last three league games.

According to a previous article in the Sydney Morning Herald, SA players were anticipated to remain until the tournament’s conclusion, which may have an effect on their readiness for the WTC final. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly exploited its power to guarantee South African players’ ongoing participation, according to the publication.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Enoch Nkwe, the director of cricket for CSA, stated, “One thing we have made clear, and we are finalizing it with the IPL and the BCCI, is that we are sticking to our original plan when it comes to WTC preparations, with May 26 being the latest for the Test guys to come back.”

Enoch Nkwe, the director of CSA, quickly reversed his position, claiming that higher-level discussions were taking place between CSA, the BCCI, and IPL teams, implying that CSA had no control over the situation.

“Correction – the squad will resume training for the game on June 3rd,” he said. “A higher authority is debating the issue than I am. We are concentrating on WTC’s last preparations at the ground level,” he said.

Because the IPL generates far more revenue than the WTC final, cricket boards and IPL teams have had to engage in difficult scheduling negotiations. In order to prepare for the final, Cricket South Africa (CSA) first demanded that its eight IPL players go by May 25.
