As part of the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” program, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer served as the main guest at the 50th anniversary celebrations of Sikkim State creation day, which were conducted on Friday at Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan here.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of Sikkim state, which is renowned for its biodiversity, alpine and subtropical temperatures, and its proximity to the Himalayas, the governor said in remarks marking the event.
According to the governor, Kanchenjunga, India’s greatest mountain and the third-highest peak in the world, is located in Sikkim, which is also the country’s cleanest and first entirely organic agricultural state. He said that Sikkim has numerous tourist attractions and natural beauties and is a distinctive fusion of many faiths, cultures, and traditions from various ethnicities.
As Indians, we are proud of our nation’s rich cultural history, heritage, and diversity. The Governor stated that the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” program seeks to strengthen ties between the people and foster understanding between the various States and Union Territories by promoting the idea of “One Nation – One People.”
Dr. Pema Choden Bhutia and A. Sandhya gave the opening remarks before B. Vidya Sagar sang a patriotic song, S. Madhav played the flute, and students performed Sikkim traditional dances.
Participating in the event were Sikkim students enrolled in educational institutions in and around Vijayawada, Raj Bhavan officials and personnel, and Secretary to Governor Dr. M. Hari Jawaharlal.
