Neeraj Chopra made history by becoming the first Indian athlete to exceed the 90-meter mark in javelin throw during the event. Despite his impressive throw, he finished second after Germany's Julian Weber, who delivered a stunning throw of 91.06 meters.
Chopra initially led the competition with a throw of 90.23 meters, setting a new national record and surpassing his previous best of 89.94 meters from the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022. Anderson Peters from Grenada secured third place with a throw of 85.64 meters.
Neeraj began his season on a high note, achieving a throw of 88.44 meters, placing him ahead of Anderson Peters, who threw 85.64 meters, and Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago, who finished with 84.65 meters.
Although Neeraj's second throw was a foul, he maintained his lead. His third throw of 90.23 meters solidified his position, but he faced tough competition from Weber, who closely followed with a throw of 89.06 meters.
Despite a fourth throw of 80.56 meters and a foul on his fifth, Neeraj remained in the lead until the final round, where Weber's impressive throw of 91.06 meters ultimately secured him the top spot, leaving Neeraj with a final throw of 88.20 meters.
