Axel Tape (17) has made the step up from the academy to the first team at Paris Saint-Germain this season, starting two Ligue 1 games and featuring in the Coupe de France.

PSG are hoping to retain the player, and to do so, there have been talks over him signing his first professional contract. However, those talks have not brought about an agreement. Parisians are now pessimistic of retaining the centre-back, despite the efforts made to do so.

PSG believe that the player will not change his mind regarding an exit and so they are now resigned to losing him, according to Sports Zone. The French media understands that Bayer Leverkusen are leading the race to sign the centre-back on a free transfer, although three Premier League clubs – Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Tottenham Hotspur – are all fans of the PSG player.

For Chelsea, the plan would be to sign Tape before sending him on loan to partner club RC Strasbourg Alsace, in order to give him a full season of experience playing Ligue 1 football.
