New Delhi: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025 is set to be conducted today, May 19, across India for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Organised this year by IIT Kanpur, the exam is witnessing participation from lakhs of top-performing candidates who qualified through JEE Main 2025.

The entrance test is being held in two shifts — Paper 1 from 9 AM to 12 PM, followed by Paper 2 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

What’s allowed inside JEE Advanced exam centre

Candidates must arrive early at their respective exam centres carrying essential documents such as the JEE Advanced admit card and a valid photo ID. Identity proof such as aadhaar card, school or college ID, driving license, voter ID, passport, PAN card or similar other will be accepted.

There will be strict frisking protocols, biometric verification and no-entry zones for electronic devices in the exam centre. Candidates are advised to follow the dress code and avoid prohibited items like mobile phones, watches, and calculators. Candidates must follow the instructions of the invigilator inside the exam hall.

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2025

The JEE Advanced 2025 will be conducted as a computer-based test. There will be a total of two compulsory papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. For both the papers the exam will be conducted for a duration of three hours each. The exam time duration for the Person with Disability (PwD) category candidates is four hours for each paper. Candidates have the provision to select or change the language preferred at any time during the exam.

Both the papers of JEE Advanced include three sections- physics, chemistry and mathematics. The paper will be in both English and Hindi language.The previous years’ JEE Advanced paper had multiple choice questions, questions with more than one answer, numerical value questions, integer digit answers and matching-type questions. As per the marking scheme, full marks, partial and zero marks are awarded. For some questions, there is also a negative marking.

The exam conducting authority sets the question paper based on the JEE Advanced syllabus. In the Chemistry section, questions will be front topics such as General Chemistry, Atomic Structure, States of Matter, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, and Chemical Thermodynamics. The questions in Mathematics are from Algebra, Sets, Relations, Functions, Matrices, Probability and Statistics and Analytical Geometry sections. The Physics part includes questions from General Physics, Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, and Modern Physics topics.
