Sudharsan’s unbeaten 108 against DC helped him jump to the top of the orange cap rankings, in addition to securing GT’s berth in the playoffs.

Gujarat Titans romped to a 10-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 encounter between the sides at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday to help secure their berth in the playoffs.

DC posted a total of 199 runs thanks to KL Rahul’s ton, which ultimately wen in vain as Sai Sudharsan starred with an unbeaten 108-run knock of his own while being ably supported by skipper Shubman Gill, who added 93 runs off his willow to take their side over the line with an over to spare.

Sudharsan’s unbeaten ton also helped him jump to the top of the orange cap rankings for the season’s top run-scorer. The southpaw expressed his delight after helping his team earn the coveted ‘Q’ across their name in the IPL standings.

“If feels great to help the team win. I missed out quite a few times at doing so this season and during the break, I was thinking about it and it paid off today,” the opener began.

“After the initial 6 overs, they bowled really well, the momentum went down, we were cool and calm enough to take the game deep. We got a couple of big overs from 12-13, which helped,” he said, reflecting on the chase.

Sudharsan reflected on his improved mindset and remarked the same as a crucial factor in the maturity he demonstrated during the chase against DC.

“Previous games I took chances and got out, but was aware enough to pick the right matchups,” the left-handed batter added.

“I’ve also started to believe myself more to take the game deeper, expand my game. Not much has changed with my batting, but mentally I’m more free and expressive,” he said.

The southpaw also went on to acknowledge an area of improvement as he looks to tune his endgame towards the business end of the season and applauded the complimentary nature of Gill’s game, with respect to his own, which seems to be yielding dividends for the side from Ahmedabad.

“When I look at the spinners, maybe I can get better at striking them. After the 15th over I have a lot of things to work on, I’m keeping a check on that,” the 23-year-old said.

“There’s a lot of understanding between us. Running between the wickets is one thing which we talk about and when I do a mistake he points out and similarly from my side as well,” he concluded.

GT’s triumph also meant that Royal Challengers Benagluru and Punjab Kings also moved into the playoffs with 17 points apiece.
