's expert Joanna Hardy was left utterly speechless after discovering the true worth of a stunning family heirloom during the latest episode.
The beloved BBC series made its way to the scenic Beaumaris Castle in Anglesey on Sunday (May 18), with Fiona Bruce steering the ship once again. The eager crowd gathered to have their treasures appraised, but little did they know, one particular piece was about to steal the show.
Hardy couldn't contain her excitement upon laying eyes on an "extraordinary" bracelet sparkling under the sun. She enthused: "This bracelet is just glistening in the sun here," further describing the gold nuggets which appeared as if freshly unearthed.
The item's owner recounted how it came into her possession, explaining: "This was a bracelet that my grandfather gave to my grandmother."
Delving into her family history, she revealed: "And my grandfather worked in Segovia, in Colombia in the Frontino mines in the '30s and '40s. He was an engineer so I don't believe he mimed those from hands, but I think he must have got those from there.", reports Edinburgh Live.
Offering her expertise, Joanna noted the piece's innovation for its era, contrasting it with the '30s jewellery trends focused on diamonds and geometric shapes within Art Deco jewellery.
Adding a personal touch, the guest showed photographs of her grandparents from their time in Colombia. As they discussed further, Joanna was taken aback by the bracelet's vivacious charm: "It's just got that raw energy about it."
A sentiment echoed by the owner, who professed her love for the piece every time she adorns it.
The expert on Antiques Roadshow left a guest utterly speechless after revealing that a gold item could fetch an eye-watering £5,000 at auction. The astonished owner exclaimed: "Wow!" She was overwhelmed, stuttering: "Okay, wow... that's quite a lot more than..."
And when she heard the valuation, she gushed: "Oh everybody says that I know. It's really a lot more than I thought. Thank you very much!" The appraiser, Joanna, shared in the excitement, saying: "Oh you've made me tingle as well!".
