Actress Selma Blair has spoken about how much she enjoyed the 2001 movie “Legally Blonde” and whether or not she plans to see the forthcoming prequel series Elle.

Reese Witherspoon’s character, a young Elle Woods, will be portrayed by Lexi Minetree in the movie “Elle.”

“We’re now saying things like, ‘Oh, 25 years ago.’ It’s unbelievable how much time has passed. According to people.com, Blair, who portrayed Vivian Kensington, said at the PHM Healthfront 2025, “It was Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde, all those things.”

“Those all hold such happy memories, and happy memories that we can all agree on, and it is such a gift in my life that I was a part of those films, because they just brought a lot of joy to all of us,” she said.

“I’ll also be observing. Blair said, “I adore it all,” alluding to the anticipated TV revival of the Legally Blonde universe.

In Legally Blonde, Witherspoon played Woods, a sorority girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School in an attempt to win him back. The cast of the Robert Luketic-directed movie also includes Jennifer Coolidge, Luke Wilson, Ali Larter, Matthew Davis, and others.

The movie inspired a Broadway musical and a 2003 follow-up, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.

Mindy Kaling has been hired to write the screenplay for a third Legally Blonde movie, which is also now in the pre-production phase.

“Elle” will accompany Minetree as Woods throughout her time in high school. The prequel explores “the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film,” according to a press release.

Alongside creator Laura Kittrell, who wrote for programs including Insecure and High School, Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt, Witherspoon will be an executive producer on the project. Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon’s media business, will also be participating.
