A former royal cleaner has shared her inside tip for keeping spaces spick and span without even using a hoover. Vacuum cleaners are found in most UK homes and are a quick and handy way to get rid of dust and dirt from floors, rugs, and even the inside of cars. But when you can't be bothered taking out the and moving it around the house, there is a quick alternative you can try.

Anne Simmons, 57, from Berkshire worked as a cleaner at for almost a decade. Her primary role focused on maintaining the royal household but she was sometimes called to help clean royal vehicles before they were used. On one occasion, she found herself without a vacuum cleaner readily available so she had to get creative. What she used was an item from her grandchild's toy box and it worked like a charm.

Speaking to motoring experts at , she revealed: "There was one time I was asked to tidy up a car before an afternoon outing. The vacuum wasn't available, and I needed something quick to lift dust from awkward spots like cup holders and vents. That's when I remembered the slime my grandson had left at my house. It worked like magic."

She added: "It was safe, easy to use, and didn't leave any marks. From that point on, I always kept a small tub in my kit just in case."

Vacuuming the inside of a car is a labourious task and can be challenging because of the car's awkward angles. However, this children's slime might be the answer to alleviating some of that difficulty.

Dust build-up inside your vehicle is more common than most people realise, the motoring experts reveal. Moisture on windows from condensation can result in more dust and dirt being attracted to your car. There are also airborne particles like pollen, hair and skin cells also circulate and settle on surfaces.

Additionally, synthetic materials in a car's interior slowly release chemicals, forming a hazy film on dashboards and windows.

"Slime is a fantastic little tool for car owners who want to keep things tidy between deeper cleans," a spokesperson from Plates Express said. "It's surprisingly effective at removing hidden dust and dirt in hard-to-reach areas. However, it's important to make sure the product you're using is safe for car surfaces - especially leather and sensitive plastics."
