In Kota, Rajasthan, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla opened the Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK) on Monday and gave assistive technology to those with disabilities.
The recipients’ excitement and optimism were palpable when they were given the specially designed equipment. Many reported feeling more self-assured and independent.
“The opening of Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra in Kota will greatly support people with disabilities,” Birla said during his comments at the ceremony. They will grow more self-assured and independent as a result. They are no longer reliant on others. Their quality of life will be enhanced and their movement will be made easier by these assistive gadgets. ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), a public sector organization under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is in charge of the PMDK effort. It seeks to provide reasonably priced assistive technology to the elderly and disabled. By June, there should be around 100 of these centers open nationwide.
