She spent many months in a coma after the tragedy. Diagnostic examinations after being sent to Medicover Hospital for further assessment showed a tumor in the brain stem, one of the most sensitive and difficult regions for surgery.

Dr. Gangapatnam Dinesh, a consultant neurosurgeon, oversaw the five-hour tumor removal procedure. The procedure was quite complicated since the tumor was located deep inside the brain stem. Dr. Dinesh said, “We are happy to report that the tumor was successfully removed and the patient has now emerged from the coma.”

He said that the patient got cutting-edge treatment at no personal expense since the surgery was performed under the Aarogyasri health program.

Public Relations Officer Chandu Verma, members of the neurosurgery department, and Medicover Hospital Center Head Dr. Dheeraj Reddy attended a press meeting when the successful procedure was announced.
