Kolkata Metro News: In order to facilitate the UPSC test commute, the Kolkata Metro management has chosen to offer more services on the blue line on May 25 in anticipation of a possible spike in passenger volume. Thousands of UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) applicants are relieved by the development. This next Sunday, May 25, is the test date.
The goal of the change is to make it easier for applicants to go to their test locations early in the morning by offering early services. There will be eight more trains operating the route, increasing the total number of trains from the customary 130 to 138. The Blue Line, which runs from Kavi Subhash to Dakshineswar, would run 69 trains per way all day long.
Kolkata Metro: Blue Line Services Will Start Two Hours Early
With the first train leaving Kavi Subhash and Noapara stations at 7 am and Dakshineswar reaching Kavi Subhash at 7:20 am, the first Metro services would begin early. From 7 am to 9 am, the metros will run every 30 minutes; the nighttime timetable will remain unchanged.
On test day, the Kolkata Metro will only run during the early hours of the day with modified schedules. The last train from Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash will leave at 9:33 p.m., while the last metro from Kavi Subhash to Dakshineswar will leave at 9:27 p.m.
Furthermore, starting 9:40 p.m., the late-night train from Kavi Subhash to Dumdum will operate as planned.
On Sundays, Green Line-2 will continue to run according to its normal timetable, whereas Green Line-1, Purple Line, and Orange Line will not run. For a comfortable travel, passengers—especially UPSC candidates—are encouraged to schedule their trip ahead of time and take advantage of the longer morning services.
