Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has increased the allowable match delay limit and in their latest notice confirmed an increase for Indian Premier League (IPL) matches from 60 to 120 minutes. The upcoming change takes effect from May 20, 2025, for both league and playoff matches.
IPLC 2025 Adjustment Clause 13.7.3 Modification
In reference to the BCCI statement Clause 13.7.3 of Match Playing Conditions was modified for 2025. Previously, a 120 minute delay was only permitted for playoff matches but now all games will uniformly have a 120 minute window in case of delays.
Rain Delay and Postponed Encounter SQL Terms Change
Changes also come in light of the IPL schedule is now expected to end on June 3, 2025 due to the early onset of monsoon weather. The BCCI has cited that multiple matches will be weather-constrained and this revision aims to better accommodate for rain delay provisions.
Communiation Dispatch Across Franchise Networks Notice Sent
In an official communication from the IPL Governing Council, a communication across franchises was sent citing that the change is meant for improved flexibility concerning the rain-rich weeks of the tournament. Changes were solely meant for the tournament and the new provisions will be applicable only for IPL 2025 season.
