Janhvi Kapoor dazzled in her debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, strutting down the red carpet for the screening of her film Homebound. The starlet was dressed in a beautiful Tarun Tahiliani gown, attracting praise for her regal appearance which many said was an emotional tribute to her deceased mother Sridevi.
A Tribute Through Fashion
Janhvi’s structured ensemble, complete with intricate detailing, evoked a regal, almost mythical charm. Fashion watchdog Diet Sabya noted the resemblance to her mother Sridevi’s iconic style, calling it a heartfelt homage. Janhvi was joined by her Homebound team, including Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, director Neeraj Ghaywan, and producer Karan Johar.
Sweet Moments on the Red Carpet
In perhaps the most popular moment of the Cannes, Ishaan and Neeraj were spotted assisting Janhvi with her elaborate gown as she posed for paps. Their gentlemanly moves were widely applauded on social media, with fans labeling Ishaan “cute” and “gentlemanly.” In another clip, the three were spotted at a hotel lobby, with Ishaan and Neeraj offering Janhvi support as she climbed a staircase.
Homebound: A Star-Studded Project
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound stars Janhvi, Ishaan, and Vishal in lead roles and will premiere in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. The film has also gained global attention with Martin Scorsese serving as executive producer.
“I’ve been keeping this a secret for 10 months,” Ishaan told PTI. “It’s a dream to debut at Cannes with my own film.”
