Severe traffic jams and waterlogging were reported in Pune after heavy rain on Tuesday. Many Punekars were stuck in traffic for hours without water or access to restrooms, especially in areas like Hinjawadi and Sinhagad Road. The newly-opened Sinhagad Road Flyover also experienced heavy congestion. Additionally, road cave-ins were reported on Warje and Satara Road.

Vehicles were seen sweeping away in Kondhwa, and a wall collapse was also reported from Kondhwa. Hoarding collapses were reported in Wagholi and Dhanori. Lohegaon and Viman Nagar areas also experienced severe waterlogging. This time, Karve Road and Kothrud also saw huge waterlogging, raising questions about the pre-monsoon work done by PMC.

30 cases of tree falls were also reported in Pune. Almost every area, including Kothrud, Katraj, Dhayari, Hinjawadi, Baner, and Viman Nagar, saw waterlogging, followed by severe traffic jams.

One death

A tragic incident occurred in Pune on Tuesday night, where a 10-year-old boy died due to an electric shock in the Warje area amid heavy rainfall. The child, identified as Mayank alias Dadu Pradeep Adagale, was electrocuted after he touched an electric pole in front of his house. The shock was so severe that it proved fatal. The incident took place while continuous rain was lashing the city.
