Investigation Launched into Invasive Photography Incident

An FIR has been lodged against unidentified individuals for sharing images of female commuters on Bengaluru's metro system without their permission, as confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police for South Bengaluru.

The contentious social media account, known as 'Bangalore Metro Chicks', had attracted more than 5,000 followers before it faced police intervention. This account showcased unauthorized photographs of women taken inside metro cars and on station platforms, lacking any proof of consent from the individuals depicted. The situation ignited public outrage, prompting the removal of all images from the implicated Instagram account.

The matter was brought to attention when a user on X (formerly Twitter) reported the account and tagged the Bengaluru City Police, urging them to take action. The authorities quickly responded, resulting in the filing of an FIR under applicable legal statutes.

Police reports indicate that the images were taken surreptitiously, with the women unaware of being photographed. In light of the public backlash, all photos have since been removed from the Instagram profile. Investigations are currently underway to track down those responsible for this violation.
